カナダの非営利調査機関「コンファレンス・ボード・オブ・カナダ」は先進国の医療制度ランキングを発表、日本は16ヶ国中で1位に、米国が最下位となった。

同調査は、Indicatorとして下記の11項目にてGrade付を行っている。

1) Life expectancy
2) Self-reported health status
3) Premature mortality
4) Mortality due to cancer
5) Mortality due to circulatory diseases
6) Mortality due to respiratory diseases
7) Mortality due to diabetes
8) Mortality due to musculoskeletal system diseases
9) Mortality due to mental disorders
10) Infant mortality
11) Mortality due to medical misadventures

Key Messages

• Canada manages to hang on to its “B,” ranking 10th among the 16 peer countries.
• Increasing levels of mortality due to diabetes should be ringing alarm bells.
• By focusing on delivering safer and higher-quality health care, Canada will not only help patients but will also control health spending by reducing costly complications and preventing unnecessary hospitalizations.
